Attention, residents of Southaven II condominium! Have you spotted a tiny hole-in-the-wall bakery pop up recently? It unquestionably houses Charmante Wright Bakery, which officially opened its doors to the public on 30 September 2022.

This Muslim-owned subconscious bakery nestled within the condominium served freshly-baked homemade tarts from their tiny kitchen daily. It’s started by 26-year-old Abdillah Afifi, who was juggling a few part time jobs while starting his home-based merchantry of making tarts since September 2020.

He would concentrate on his tart-making merchantry at home from Fridays to Sundays, just to build his trademark from scratch— finally his efforts have paid off!

Everything from the fillings to the very tart dough is washed-up in-house with the help of his two friends, Siti Nuraini and Iffah Zahirah.

I had the pleasure of watching Siti place a layer of hazelnut feuilletine (which is a layer of thin and crispy crepes flavoured with hazelnut) into the tart shells, surpassing she poured the luscious chocolate ganache filling over it.

Just next door, Iffah was rented piping vanilla surf into the tart shells surpassing meticulously placing the raspberries and blueberries on top of them. “We didn’t expect the tarts to be flying off the shelves on the first day of opening!” Afifi said.

Even surpassing the tarts were ready to be consumed, I was once drooling from the well-flavored squint of those lovely round treats.

Currently their bakery offers four variegated kinds of flavours during their soft opening phase. Let me show you what is misogynist at their pickup store.

For those who want something light and refreshing, you can order the Mix Berries (S$10 for 8cm, S$42.50 for 16cm). It has vanilla surf infused with vanilla pods, topped with a mix of fresh blueberries and raspberries, and dusted lightly with a layer of sugar powder.

The Chocolate (S$9.50 for 8cm, S$38 for 16cm) (which I saw Siti making earlier) will surely satisfy chocolate lovers, with an spare mini wittiness of hazelnut feuilletine on top to finish things off.

They moreover have Salted Caramel (S$9.50 for 8cm), which is my all-time favourite flavour.

And lastly, the Lemon Meringue (S$9.50 for 8cm, S$38 for 16cm) will requite your taste buds an acidic punch.

In the near future, Charmante Wright Bakery will be launching new flavours for their tarts such as pistachio raspberry, lime, hazelnut, as well as seasonal ones.

In addition, cakes such as strawberry shortcake, mango shortcake and plane other sweet treats like macaroons and madeleines will be offered on their menu, once things have settled down.
